Colorado editing office

I’ve been quiet all summer, but now that I’m settled into my new home in Colorado Springs, Colorado, I hope to find more time to update this online space. Today I’m popping in to give a little update and to share with you my new editing studio.

This room is upstairs in our new place and has a gorgeous mountain view (IMHO) from those two windows:

Isn’t it beautiful?

This summer we spent a ton of time on the road, including three trips to Colorado, so my work space was often the front seat of our little car and later, our moving truck. I was working on deadline when we climbed into our U-Haul last month, so I was tapping away at my laptop each day until my battery gave out. Now it’s nice to have a command center (with an actual desk!) again in which to do my work, but to be honest, it’s hard to be indoors when there’s so much beauty outside. Nathan and I have been out hiking most days, picking a new trail each time and really enjoying the scenery and the time together. Yesterday we hiked part of a trail up Pike’s Peak (which we can see from our house) and we’ll go out somewhere else today. It’s fabulous to live in a place that other people come to for vacation. I may be stuck a bit in vacation mode myself.

Starting this week, though, I’m beginning to hunker down and actually be “in the studio” on a more regular basis. There’s only so much change in routine I can process at once, and some light scheduling might actually be in order. Maybe.

I’m looking for new projects for early October and beyond, so let me know if you’ve come across any nonfiction that needs editing. I picture it resting in a lonely drawer or sitting neglected on someone’s figurative back burner. I fancy it would be happier hanging out with me in my lovely new office. I’ll even show it my view of the mountains.
