Today I’m excited to be celebrating the first year of my editing business!

Though I’ve been editing professionally for nearly a decade, it’s been just within the past year that I’ve set up my own freelance studio. And it’s been a great first year! I’ve enjoyed growing at my own pace, soaking up small business and freelance editing advice, and especially working with new and returning clients on exciting projects. I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had this year, and I’m excited to see where this new path takes me. I plan to use this blog space to track my adventures along the way. I hope you’ll join me!

My business and I almost share a birthday; my big day is Tuesday (and my husband’s was just last week). Birthday season around here means party banners and eating chocolate frosting straight from the can. And ice cream—but then around here, there’s always ice cream. A successful year in business, I think, calls for at least an extra scoop.

Thanks so much for following along.

  4. […] Kelsey Mitchener Editing means a lot to me. It’s a little piece of who I am and it’s a chance to be my own boss, which has always been important to me. It’s always been small—just me and my trusty red pen— but that may be part of why I’ve always thought it important to pause each fall to celebrate and think back on what I’ve done this year (see past years here, here, and here).
