If you follow me elsewhere online (or, you know, you’re a friend IRL), you know that I’ve recently landed a new job!
I’m moving into a new position helping direct a university writing center. Yay!
There are lots of things I love about this. I worked as a student at this same writing center for four years, so I’m familiar with and fond of this particular place. Since I’ll be spending the majority of my day working one-on-one with students on their writing, my 9-to-5 will dovetail beautifully with my freelance editing work. And, bonus, my new office is actually inside a library. Score!
Students don’t arrive back on campus for several weeks, so meanwhile, I’m spending my time thinking about the really important things, like how to furnish my office space. Should I place a mirror or a large poster on the back wall? Which of my favorite reference books should come along with me (vs. staying at home in my freelance studio)? So many important questions.

Yeah, I’m definitely recycling some prints from before. I thought it would be fun to mix in some new ones, too, though. Here’s one I’m eyeing: http://popchartlab.com/collections/prints-all/products/alphabet-of-typography
I like that it mixes design and language interests. Not that much more colorful, though! Haha.

Thanks, Lauren! 🙂 It feels like a really good fit. The interview process just seemed really natural, and I think the work itself will come naturally, too. That’s such a nice feeling! Appreciate your kind words!

I vote for large (more colorful) poster–maybe some of the same that you had in your last office?
